The Carroll University women’s lacrosse team was recognized on Apr. 28 for its strong season with a sweep of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin’s top honors, as well as eight selections to the All-CCIW teams.
This recognition follows one of the program’s most successful seasons, during which Carroll finished with a 14–2 overall record and went undefeated in conference play at 5–0. The Pioneers secured back-to-back regular season conference titles while leading the league both offensively and defensively. Over the course of the season, they averaged 15.1 goals per game and allowed just 6.3, outscoring their opponents by a combined total of 242–100.
Junior attacker Elizabeth Wang received the CCIW Offensive Student-Athlete of the Year award after scoring 56 goals and making 26 assists for a total of 82 points across all games played this season. On defense, Grace Tumilty was named CCIW Co-Defensive Student-Athlete of the Year after collecting a team-high 83 ground balls and causing 68 turnovers.
First-year midfielder Paige Helms earned CCIW First-Year Student-Athlete of the Year honors following her debut campaign, contributing both offensively with 37 goals and defensively by leading her team in draw controls with 69.
Head coach Michael Hodge led his staff to earn CCIW Coaching Staff of the Year recognition after guiding Carroll through an unbeaten conference schedule en route to another regular season championship.
Five players were selected for All-CCIW First Team honors: Wang, Tumilty, senior attacker Sierra Skack (who scored 37 goals), midfielder Samantha Hurd (who contributed across multiple categories), and goalkeeper Devon Duym (who posted a record of twelve wins against one loss). Three more players—attacker Elaina Phaneuf, Helms again for her overall contributions, and defender Teah Rupp—were named to the Second Team.
Carroll led all conference teams in key statistical categories including goals scored, assists made, draw controls won, caused turnovers forced, and clearing percentage during regular-season play. The breadth of individual awards reflects both depth within Carroll’s roster and its growing presence in NCAA Division III women’s lacrosse.
