For the seventh consecutive year, the Office of Medical Education (OME) has recognized Aspirus Physicians and Advanced Practice Clinicians (APCs) for their roles as clinical teachers to medical and advanced practice clinician students. These individuals are acknowledged for supporting the training of future healthcare professionals and reflecting the Mission, Vision, and Values of Aspirus.
This year, Dr. Rachel Laszko, a general surgeon at Aspirus Laurium Clinic, received the Accountability Award. The OME highlighted Dr. Laszko’s impact as a clinical teacher, noting her dedication to making a difference in others’ lives, advocating for students, providing feedback, and ensuring knowledge transfer.
A physician assistant student shared their experience: “I had a wonderful experience with Dr. Laszko as a PA student in my general surgery rotation. Dr. Laszko took the time to teach me during surgery about how to suture and anatomical structures. I learned so much about preventative screenings and how to optimize a patient for surgery. She is very deserving of any of the awards stated above.”
