The University of Wisconsin-River Falls softball team will return to conference play with two doubleheaders, starting April 15 at home against the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, followed by a road matchup at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh on April 18.
These games come as the Falcons look to improve their record during a crucial part of the season before postseason play. The upcoming matchups are significant for the team’s standing in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
The Falcons have struggled historically against UW-Eau Claire, holding an 8-24-1 record since 2010 and losing their last eleven meetings, including two defeats in 2025. Against UW-Oshkosh, they are 7-23 over that same period but recently secured a narrow 4-3 win at home last season.
Key players this season include Caitlyn Kressel, who leads with a .389 batting average and has been perfect defensively. Addison Eaton is hitting .321 with a team-high twenty-one runs batted in and eleven stolen bases without being caught. Lacie Lilyquist is also contributing offensively with seventeen runs batted in. Ella Stuber leads the team in stolen bases with sixteen successful attempts out of sixteen tries.
On the pitching side, Lucy Knutson has posted a 3.54 earned run average over nearly thirty innings pitched while limiting opponents to a .317 batting average. Hailey Kincaid leads all pitchers on the staff in innings pitched and complete games.
The Falcons’ game against UW-Eau Claire will also serve as their Mental Health Awareness Game.
