FOIA Request Sent to Adams County Election Department Regarding Ballot Counting Methods on October 30, 2024

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Adams County Election Department in Wisconsin regarding their ballot counting methods on October 30, 2024. The request was initiated by The Sconi, a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.

In our pursuit of transparency and accountability, we asked for a list of methods the department is using to count ballots. If manual counting is employed, we requested an estimated number of people who will be working on election night.

As a media organization, access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.

We await the response from the Adams County Election Department and will continue to keep our readers informed about these important matters concerning local government affairs.
