A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Adams County Election Department in Wisconsin on February 5, 2025. The request was made by The Sconi, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.

In the request, we sought information under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., specifically asking for a list of all candidates running in the upcoming election. The details requested for each candidate included their first, middle and last names, the office they are running for, jurisdiction of the office, party affiliation and all contact information including address, phone number and email address.

As a media organization committed to transparency and accountability in public institutions, we believe access to these public records is essential for fulfilling our professional responsibilities. In light of our role in disseminating information to the public, we have also requested a fee waiver as a media professional.

The response from the Adams County Election Department will be awaited with keen interest as it will provide crucial insights into the forthcoming elections. It will not only aid us in our reporting but also help foster transparency and promote an informed electorate ahead of the polls.
