FOIA Request to Burnett County Regarding Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Logs from January to October 2024 on October 7, 2024.

As a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at The Sconi have requested specific records under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., from Burnett County.

Our request includes access to a list of FOIA logs sent to the county between January 1, 2024, and October 7, 2024. The specific fields we are interested in include the requester’s name and organization, the content of the request, the date of the request and its completion date, as well as the status of the FOIA request.

Access to public records is essential for us at The Sconi in fulfilling our professional responsibilities. These responsibilities include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional.
