FOIA Request to Crawford County Election Department Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.

As a part of our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at The Sconi submitted a request under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., for information about the candidates running in the upcoming election.

Our request specifically sought details including each candidate’s first, middle, and last name; the office they are running for; the jurisdiction of that office; and their party affiliation. Additionally, we asked for all available contact information for each candidate, including their address, phone number, and email address.

We believe that access to these public records is essential in fulfilling our professional responsibilities as journalists. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. As a media organization disseminating this crucial information to the public, we requested a fee waiver as a media professional.

The Sconi remains committed to serving as a reliable source of news for our readership. We will continue striving for transparency and accountability from our public institutions through diligent reporting and thorough investigation.
