A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to Dane County regarding vendor payments on September 26, 2024. The request, made by the media organization The Sconi, seeks comprehensive details about all payments made to vendors within the county from January 1, 2024, until the date of the request.

The specific information requested includes the name of each vendor paid during this period, the date of each transaction, a description of each transaction, and the amount paid in each case. This detailed financial data is sought under Wisconsin’s Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., with a preference for an electronic format.

As members of The Sconi team, we believe that access to public records is essential for fulfilling our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information as a media organization, we have also requested a fee waiver for this service.

We remain committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs and will continue seeking relevant information that contributes to this mission.
