FOIA Request to Dodge County Sheriff’s Department regarding 2023 arrest records on September 24, 2025.

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was submitted to the Dodge County Sheriff’s Department by The Sconi, a media organization focused on local governmental affairs. The request, dated September 24, 2025, seeks comprehensive arrest records for the entire year of 2023 under the Wisconsin Open Records Law.

The requested data includes detailed information about each arrestee such as name, sex, race, age, date of birth, and citizenship status. Additionally, the request asks for booking IDs, dates of arrest, booking photos, names of arresting officers, types and locations of crimes committed, and dates when these crimes occurred. The requester has specified a preference for receiving this information in electronic format.

As part of their role in news gathering and reporting to the public, The Sconi emphasizes the importance of access to public records in holding public institutions accountable and ensuring transparency. In light of their professional responsibilities and affiliations with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy—a non-profit organization aiding media companies in investigating government actions—The Sconi has requested a fee waiver for this FOIA request.

We look forward to receiving this information in an electronic format as it will greatly aid in our reporting efforts. As always, we remain open for any questions or clarifications regarding this request.
