FOIA Request to Eau Claire County Election Department Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.

The Sconi, a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, has submitted a request under the Wisconsin Open Records Law for information regarding the candidates running in the upcoming election.

The requested records include the first, middle, and last names of all candidates, the office they are running for, their jurisdiction of office, and party affiliation. In addition to this basic candidate information, The Sconi has also requested contact details for each candidate which includes their address, phone number, and email address.

As members of the media involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we believe access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These responsibilities include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we have requested a fee waiver as media professionals.

We await a response from the Eau Claire County Election Department regarding this request.
