A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Iowa County Election Department on February 5, 2025. The request, submitted by The Sconi, a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, seeks detailed information about candidates running in the upcoming election.

The records requested under the Wisconsin Open Records Law include a list of all candidates participating in the forthcoming election. Specifically, The Sconi has asked for each candidate’s first, middle, and last names, the office they are running for, jurisdiction of the office, and party affiliation.

In addition to these details, The Sconi also requested contact information for each candidate. This includes their address, phone number, and email address.

As members of the media organization The Sconi, we believe access to public records is essential for fulfilling our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information to the public, we have also requested a fee waiver as media professionals.

We await a response from the Iowa County Election Department and will continue our commitment to delivering comprehensive coverage on local governmental affairs.
