FOIA Request to Lafayette County Election Department Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.

We at The Sconi, a media organization dedicated to comprehensive and accurate news coverage of local governmental affairs, have formally requested records under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., from the Lafayette County Election Department. Our request pertains specifically to information about all candidates running in the upcoming election.

Our request details that we are seeking an electronic format list of all candidates running for office in the upcoming election. The information we are seeking includes each candidate’s first, middle, and last name; the office they are running for; jurisdiction of the office; and party affiliation.

In addition to these details, we have also requested contact information for each candidate. This includes their address, phone number, and email address.

As a media organization committed to transparency and accountability in public institutions, access to these public records is crucial for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. We believe that as media professionals involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we are eligible for a fee waiver.
