FOIA Request to Langlade County Election Department Regarding Ballot Counting Methods on October 30, 2024.

In a bid to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at The Sconi have requested specific records under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., from the Langlade County Election Department. Our request is focused primarily on obtaining a list of methods used by the department to count ballots in the upcoming elections.

In addition to this, if ballots are being manually counted, we have also asked for an estimated number of people who will be working on election night. This information is crucial as it not only gives insight into the manpower required for such a significant task but also reflects on the efficiency and accuracy of the counting process.

As a media organization committed to holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public, access to these public records is essential for us at The Sconi. We believe that our role in disseminating information makes us eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional.

We await a response from the Langlade County Election Department and remain open for any questions they may have regarding our request.
