FOIA Request to Lincoln County Regarding Access to Public Records on October 7, 2024.

As a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at The Sconi have formally requested access to certain public records under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq.

Our request specifically targets a list of FOIA logs sent to Lincoln County from January 1, 2024 till October 7, 2024. We have asked for these records in an electronic format for ease of analysis and dissemination. The fields we are interested in include the requester’s name and organization, the content of the request, the date of the request and its completion date, as well as the status of the FOIA.

As members of the media involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, access to such public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These responsibilities include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.

We await response from Lincoln County regarding this matter.
