FOIA Request to Ozaukee County Election Department Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.

In our ongoing efforts to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at The Sconi have submitted a request for records under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq.

The request, sent to the Ozaukee County Election Department, seeks detailed information about all candidates running in the upcoming election. We have asked for this information preferably in an electronic format for ease of access and dissemination.

Specifically, we are seeking the following details about each candidate: their first name, middle name, last name, the office they are running for, jurisdiction of the office they are contesting from and their party affiliation.

Additionally, we have requested contact information for each candidate including their address, phone number and email address. This information is crucial in our mission to hold public institutions accountable and provide transparency to the public.

As a media organization dedicated to reporting news to the public, we believe that access to public records is essential in fulfilling our professional responsibilities. In light of this role in disseminating information to the public, we have also sought a fee waiver as a media professional.

We await a response from the Ozaukee County Election Department and will keep our readers updated on any developments.
