A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, on September 26, 2024. The request was made by The Sconi, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.

The Sconi is seeking records under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., specifically asking for a list of all payments made to vendors from January 1, 2024, until September 26, 2024. The requested data fields include the vendor name, transaction date, transaction description, and the amount paid.

As members of the media involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we at The Sconi believe that access to public records is crucial for fulfilling our professional responsibilities. These responsibilities include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we have also requested a fee waiver as media professionals.

We will continue our efforts to bring light to important issues concerning local government operations and expenditures. We await a response from Ozaukee County officials regarding this FOIA request.
