FOIA Request to Racine County Sheriff’s Department regarding 2023 arrest records on September 24, 2025.

A request for public records was submitted to the Racine County Sheriff’s Department by The Sconi, a media organization focused on local governmental affairs. The request, made under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, seeks comprehensive arrest records from January 1, 2023, to December 31, 2023.

The requested data includes various details about each arrestee: name, sex, race, age, date of birth (DOB), and citizenship status. Additionally, information such as booking ID, date of arrest, booking photo, names of arresting officers, type of crime committed, location of the crime, and date of the crime is sought.

The Sconi emphasizes that access to these public records is crucial for fulfilling its role in holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. As a member of the media and part of The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy—a non-profit organization assisting in government investigations—the requester has asked for a fee waiver based on their professional responsibilities.
