FOIA Request to Sauk County Election Department Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025. The request was made by a news reporter from The Sconi, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.

The request, made under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., sought information about all candidates running in the upcoming election. Specifically, the reporter asked for each candidate’s first, middle, and last name; the office they are running for; their jurisdiction of office; and their party affiliation.

Additionally, the reporter requested contact information for each candidate. This includes their address, phone number, and email address.

As members of The Sconi media organization, we believe in holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. Given our role in disseminating information, we have requested a fee waiver as media professionals.

We await a response from the Sauk County Election Department regarding this request.
