FOIA Request to Shawano County Election Department Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.

As part of our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at The Sconi have submitted a request under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., for information regarding the candidates running in the upcoming election.

Our request specifically seeks an electronic format list of all candidates, including their first, middle, and last names. We have also asked for details about the office they are running for and its jurisdiction, as well as each candidate’s party affiliation.

In addition to these details, we have requested contact information for each candidate. This includes their address, phone number, and email address.

As a media organization dedicated to transparency and holding public institutions accountable, access to such public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. Given our role in disseminating information to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional.

We will continue to keep you updated as we gather and report news on this upcoming election. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or need further clarification.
