A request for information was sent to the University Of Wisconsin-Whitewater under the Wisconsin Open Records Law by The Sconi, a media organization focused on local governmental affairs. The request seeks access to a complete list of course syllabi for all undergraduate and graduate courses offered during the Spring 2025 academic semester. This includes syllabi from all departments, schools, and colleges, regardless of whether the courses were conducted in-person, online, or in hybrid formats.

The requested records are to include relevant metadata such as course title and number, instructor name, department or academic unit, and course delivery format. The requester emphasized the importance of accessing public records for media professionals who aim to hold public institutions accountable and provide transparency to the public. Additionally, a fee waiver is sought based on their role as a media professional.
