FOIA Request to Washburn County Election Department Regarding Information about Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.

As part of our commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at The Sconi have submitted a request under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., for information regarding the candidates running in the upcoming election.

The requested records include the full names of all candidates, the offices they are running for, their jurisdiction, and party affiliation. We have also asked for complete contact information for each candidate including their address, phone number, and email address.

As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.

We believe that given our role in disseminating information, we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional. We eagerly await a response from the Washburn County Election Department so we can continue our mission of delivering comprehensive news coverage on local governmental affairs.
