FOIA Request to Waushara County Election Department Regarding Information on Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.

As a part of our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at The Sconi have sent a request under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., to the Waushara County Election Department. Our request pertains specifically to the upcoming elections and aims to gather information about all candidates running for office.

The records requested include basic identification details such as the candidates’ first, middle, and last names. Additionally, we’ve asked for information regarding the office they are running for and its jurisdiction. We believe that party affiliation is also an important detail that should be made available to the public.

To facilitate direct communication with these candidates, we’ve also requested their contact information. This includes their address, phone number, and email address.

At The Sconi, we consider access to public records as essential in fulfilling our professional responsibilities. These responsibilities include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we have requested a fee waiver as a media professional.

We look forward to continuing our mission of informing the public about local governmental affairs with accuracy and comprehensiveness.
