A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Winnebago County Election Department in Wisconsin on February 5, 2025. The request was made by The Sconi, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.
The Sconi is seeking a list of all candidates running for the upcoming election under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq. The requested information includes each candidate’s first, middle, and last name; the office they are running for; jurisdiction of the office; party affiliation; and contact information such as address, phone number, and email address.
As part of our mission at The Sconi to hold public institutions accountable and provide transparency to the public, we believe access to these public records is essential. As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we have requested a fee waiver for this information.
We await response from the Winnebago County Election Department regarding this request.
