The Green Bay Packers and Meijer are inviting local businesses in the greater Green Bay area to participate in the “Adopt a Pantry” program for Green Bay Area Public Schools, according to a May 4 announcement. The initiative aims to keep community fridges and pantries at a dozen local schools stocked with fresh, nutritious food throughout the year.

The program is designed to address food insecurity among students by providing additional nutritional support outside of regular school meals. Currently, there are 12 food pantries and fridges located at various schools across the district that allow students access to food and snacks when needed.

The Packers have previously supported these efforts by sponsoring community fridges at elementary schools such as Beaumont and Eisenhower, as well as allocating funds for Nicolet Elementary’s purchase of a community freezer. For the upcoming 2026-27 school year, the Packers have committed to adopt Eisenhower Elementary’s pantry, while Meijer has pledged similar support for another school. The district is now seeking other local businesses to adopt pantries at ten more schools next year.

“The Packers are proud to continue supporting the students and families of Green Bay Area Public Schools through a variety of initiatives including free public events, literacy initiatives, mental health and food insecurity,” said Amanda Wery, Packers community outreach manager. “We appreciate Meijer joining us in ‘drafting’ another school pantry in our area for the Adopt a Pantry program, and we encourage other businesses to join us in providing the fuel for students and their families to succeed.”

Companies interested in participating can contact Amy Fish, associate director of community partnerships and grants at GBAPS, by calling (920) 272-7657 or emailing acfish@gbaps.org. Volunteer opportunities are also available for sorting donations or packing kits for students.

“When our families have their needs met, students can come to school available and ready to learn,” said Fish. “When students are engaged in learning, we see an increase in academic outcomes and graduation rates. All of this equates to a stronger local economy.”

The Green Bay Packers operate from Green Bay, Wisconsin; they were founded in 1919; they participate in the National Football League within the NFC North Division; they have achieved success including championships won in years such as 1929 and 2010,according to the official website.
