Wisconsin Sen. Chris Kapenga (R-Delafield) has denounced the nation’s Capitol attack calling it unacceptable. Kapenga took to twitter to air his views.

“I know people are extremely frustrated by this election & there have to be changes made to ensure the integrity of our elections. As I condemned the violence at the State Capitol, which included my office, I also condemn the violence at the United States Capitol. Not acceptable,” he said.

Shots were fired at this tweet with some telling Kapenga not to compare his broken window to the loss of life during the riot.

“Don’t “both sides” this Chris. An insurrection attempt just occurred. Someone was shot and killed. That’s quite a bit more dangerous than your window being broken,” one of the replies read.

In Aug. 2020, the Wisconsin State Capitol was attacked by rioters. Sen. Howard Marklein and Kapenga’s offices were damaged in the process.

The attack on the U.S. Capitol occurred as federal lawmakers were gearing up to count the Electoral College votes and officially declare President-elect Joe Biden as the winner of the general election last November.

Protesters stormed the Capitol Building and were able to make their way into the building, where they ended up shattering window panes in doors and eventually made their way into the House chamber.

Wisconsin lawmakers and leaders have condemned the violence with some calling it an attack to American democracy. "All summer we spoke out against violence. It was wrong then, and it is wrong today." Former Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker tweeted.

Despite the protests, Congress reconvened to certify Biden’s Electoral College victory. Vice President Mike Pence announced Biden’s 306-232 win after 3 a.m Thursday.
