Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers has joined his Midwestern governing counterparts in an effort to urge residents to get vaccinated against the coronavirus.

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer tweeted that through the collaboration they hoped to inspire Midwesterners to do their part in the fight against the virus and reiterated that it was a non-partisan issue.

“I joined Gov. Mike De Wine, Gov. Holcomb, Gov. Pritzker, Gov. Evers, Gov. Andy Beshear and Gov. Tim Walz to spread the word about the importance of getting vaccinated," Whitmer wrote. "Whether you’re a Republican or a Democrat, we can all have a great summer if we roll up our sleeves and get it done.”

Overall, the state of Wisconsin has a rate of over 50% of residents reported to have received at least one of the vaccines, according to Wisconsin DHS.

Evers is also touting that over 50 out of the 72 total counties in the state have a bulk of 18 year olds and older that are fully vaccinated.

“In over 50 counties, more than half of Wisconsinites 18 and older have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19,” he tweeted. “This is great news, but also means we've still got work to do. Grab a friend and find the vaccine at http://vaccines.gov.”

Various health care providers are continuing in their efforts to try and reach as many people as possible by utilizing clinics, pop-up sites and any suitable facility where they can hold a vaccination drive.
