Gov. Tony Evers tweeted his support of Generac’s announcement that they will be hiring 700 employees by 2024.

On Sept. 28, Generac Power Systems Chief Operating Officer Tom Pettit announced during a press conference at their Pewaukee facility the company's plans to hire 700 new employees in the state by 2024, in addition to investing $53 million across its Wisconsin facilities, according to Biz Times

"This is great news for southeastern Wisconsin and our economy. @Generac is known around the globe, and this commitment to our state shows how Wisconsin continues to be a leader in advanced manufacturing and supporting businesses in our state," Evers said in a tweet.

Generac has stated that the money will be put toward renovating facilities, acquiring new equipment and expanding research and development, and would allow Generac to receive $9 million in Enterprise Zone tax credits should they reach their goal, according to Biz Times.

According to Generac, recent extreme weather in combination with an aging electric grid has resulted in an increased demand for their generators and other power products, according to NBC 15. The new Pewaukee facility will be responsible for housing the 700 new employees.

Generac was founded in Wisconsin in 1959 and has grown exponentially throughout the state, with nearly eight out of every 10 generators sold is a Generac, according to EinpressWire.
