As inflation remains a growing concern across the country, many — including legislators — have expressed concern for increasing prices.

"I’ve been warning about the Democrats’ reckless economic policies for months," Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI), tweeted Tuesday, speaking on the inflation crisis. "We are paying people not to work, we have a severe labor crisis in this country and supply shortages. Democrats want more out-of-control deficit spending. That’s why we have record inflation."

A recent Morning Consult/Politico poll found that 62% of voters who responded, said the Biden administration was very or somewhat responsible, while just 11% said Biden’s policies were not at least in part responsible for inflation.

According to the poll, 60% of respondents are “very concerned” about inflation, 27% are “somewhat concerned,” 10% are not too concerned and just 3% are not concerned at all.

“Forget politics — it’s not an ideal scenario if you can’t afford a turkey or can’t find your canned pumpkin at the grocery store this year,” Adrienne Elrod, a longtime Democratic strategist told the Morning Consult.

One poll shows 60% of respondents expect prices to increase, especially when it comes to utility and energy bills, up from 47% in February.

ABC News reports that further polls show inflation is hurting the Democratic Party's chances in the 2022 midterm elections, with 51% of prospective voters saying they would vote for a Republican in their district and just 41% saying they would support a Democrat, the widest margin since 1981.
