Everyone's flocking to the Educational Day at White River County Park on August 5; take note of WIS 11 road closures; don’t forget to RSVP to the screening of SPARK; the Partisan Primary is next week; and Lakeland Health Care Center is looking for volunteers.
Educational Day at White River County Park
Geneva Lake Conservancy, Friends of White River County Park, and Fellow Mortals Wildlife Hospital are teaming up to host a special presentation on birds during an Educational Day event at White River County Park on Friday, August 5, from 10 to 11 a.m. The event is part of Wisconsin Land Trust Days, an annual celebration of land trusts held every year in August and September. Volunteers Wanted for Walworth County Fair Outings
Lakeland Health Care Center (LHCC) is in need of 10 volunteers to assist residents during two outings to the Walworth County Fair on the mornings of August 31 and Sept. 1. Volunteers will help ensure that LHCC residents are able to enjoy a fun and safe morning at the fair. Volunteers’ fair admission is paid for. WIS 11 Closures
Resurfacing work on Wisconsin Highway 11 (WIS 11) began on August 1. The work is being done between Clausen Road and the Walworth/Racine County Line, along the western portion of the Burlington Bypass.
During the project, drivers can expect the following closures:
- Full closure from Claussen Rd to North/Lyons Rd with the intersection of STH-1 and North/Lyons Rd open running north and south
- Full closure from North/Lyons Rd to CTH-JS
- Single inside lane closures on STH-11 East from STH-36 to Spring Valley beginning 8/5/22
Last Chance to Register for SPARK, a Lewy Body Dementia
The Walworth County Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) will host SPARK, a Lewy Body Dementia (LBD) event on Friday, August 5th from 9 to 11 a.m. The morning will be highlighted by a viewing of SPARK, a documentary about actor Robin Williams and his battle with Lewy body dementia. Following the film, a panel of experts will share their experiences and offer a Q & A opportunity. All are welcome to attend, but the ADRC highly encourages individuals with LBD or Parkinson’s as well as their caregivers to attend.
The event will be held in the Walworth County Room at the Walworth County Department of Health and Human Services building, 1910 County Road NN, Elkhorn. RSVPs are highly recommended by calling (262) 741-3273. Or reserve your tickets online.

Community Events: What's Going on Around the County
Bust out your lederhosen and get ready to hoist your steins because DAS Fest is rolling into the Walworth County Fairgrounds, August 5 through 7. The three-day German festival features live music, German food, beer, wine, dachshund races, and more. The 65th Annual Whitewater Maxwell Street Days takes place in downtown Whitewater Aug. 5 (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and Aug. 6 (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.). Shopping deals across the community, yard games, and live music. Alpine Valley Music Theatre hosts Phlowfest on August 5 and 6 featuring live music, pro wakeboard demos, yogathons, and vendors. The Geneva Lake West Rotary Club will be cooking up a good time at the 61st Annual Corn and Bratwurst Festival on Aug. 6 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Devil’s Lane Park in Walworth. The event features food, a beer tent, live music, a dunk tank, and kid-friendly activities like face painting, jump houses, and more.
