Investigation Underway for Manitowoc County Officer Involved Incident

MISHICOT, Wis. – The Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) is currently looking into an officer-involved incident that took place in Mishicot, Wis. on Tuesday, March 19, 2024.

According to the report, officers from the Mishicot Police Department responded to a domestic dispute on South Main Street, where they encountered a subject who approached them aggressively despite verbal commands. The officers used non-lethal means to try to control the individual, who then required life-saving measures and was subsequently taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Wisconsin DOJ assured that "No law enforcement officers were injured, and no other individuals were injured during the incident." Additionally, it was mentioned that the officers involved in the incident were equipped with body cameras and have been placed on administrative duty as part of department policy.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice stated, "DCI is leading this investigation and are assisted by Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office, City of Manitowoc Fire Department, Mishicot Area Ambulance Service, Two Rivers Fire Department, a DCI Crime Response Specialist, and members of DCI’s Digital Evidence Unit." All parties involved are fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation.

The investigation is still ongoing, with DCI continuing to gather evidence and determine the facts surrounding the incident. Once the investigation concludes, investigative reports will be handed over to the Manitowoc County District Attorney for further action.
