Eric Hovde said that "known criminals and terrorists" have crossed the border into the U.S. under the current administration. The Hovde campaign provided his statement to The Sconi on October 9.

"Sen. Baldwin and VP Harris' radical open-border policies have led to millions of illegal immigrants flooding the southern border, including known criminals and terrorists," said Hovde, U.S. Senate Candidate in Wisconsin. "Sen. Baldwin can't be trusted to keep Wisconsin safe. It's time for change."

On September 25, Patrick J. Lechleitner, deputy director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), responded to a request from Representative Tony Gonzalez regarding information on immigrants with criminal backgrounds. Lechleitner's letter indicated that the ICE non-detained docket currently includes over 662,000 illegal immigrants with criminal convictions or pending charges. Among them are 13,099 convicted murderers and more than 15,000 individuals convicted of sexual assault living in the U.S., according to ICE's non-detained docket.

According to Bill Melugin at Fox News, there are thousands of illegal immigrants convicted of felonies "roaming the U.S." The data does not specify when these convicted noncitizens arrived. As of August 2016, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) reported that over 368,000 convicted criminals were already on the non-detained docket. During the Biden Administration, the number of non-citizens doubled from 3.2 million to 7.3 million; however, there is no clear data on when they entered the country and were released by ICE.

Fox News reported another finding from ICE indicating that the agency has lost track of over 32,000 unaccompanied migrant children over the last five years. An internal source at DHS sent a report titled "Management Alert - ICE Cannot Monitor All Unaccompanied Migrant Children Released from DHS and U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Custody" to Congress.
