University of Wisconsin-Stout Director of Athletics Erin Sullivan announced on May 6 that Tom Webb has been appointed as the head coach of the Blue Devil men’s basketball team. Webb served as interim head coach during the 2025-26 season and now becomes the 17th head coach in program history.
This decision comes after a season in which Webb led the Blue Devils to a 9-17 overall record and a berth in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Tournament, marking only their second appearance since the 2012-13 season. The team was recognized for its defensive performance, ranking nationally in both scoring defense and blocks per game.
“Tom has demonstrated strong leadership, a deep commitment to our student-athletes, and a clear vision for the future of our program,” Sullivan said. “We are excited to officially name him as our head coach and continue building on the progress made this past season.”
Under Webb’s guidance, UW-Stout recorded notable victories over top-ranked opponents including Illinois Wesleyan, UW-Stevens Point, and UW-Oshkosh. Individual honors were also achieved by players such as Collin Vick and Aidan Shore for their defensive efforts, while AJ Uttech received honorable mention recognition.
Webb joined UW-Stout in 2018 and contributed to improvements within the program over several seasons. Prior to his time at Stout, he held coaching positions at Rochester College—where he helped secure two national titles—and Purdue University Northwest. As a player at Rochester College, he was part of four consecutive national tournament appearances.
“I would like to thank Chancellor Katherine Frank, Athletic Director Erin Sullivan, and the search committee for the opportunity to continue leading and restoring Blue Devil Basketball. My family and I are incredibly excited to remain part of UW-Stout, the Menomonie community, and the future of this program,” Webb said.
