Jay Weber, host of WISN-Milwaukee, commented on the sentencing of two undocumented immigrants in a Fond du Lac crime case, suggesting it reflects a broader issue of the era. The statement was made on X.

“Credit to Fox 6 for running the story, but come on: TWO ILLEGAL ALIENS sentenced to prison,” said Weber, Talkshow Host. “It is a fact that matters for the overall story-and-reflects an important issue of this era.”

In August 2025, a Fond du Lac County judge sentenced Juan Rocha Mejia to 40 years in prison plus 20 years of supervision and Elia Antonio to 34 years in prison plus 20 years of supervision for sexually assaulting and trafficking a 12-year-old child who escaped and sought help. According to Fox 6 Milwaukee, the case highlighted concerns about child safety and trafficking enforcement in Wisconsin.

The Migration Policy Institute reports that undocumented immigrants in the U.S. commit crimes, including violent and property offenses, at lower rates than native-born citizens. In Wisconsin and nationwide, research consistently shows immigrants overall are less likely to be incarcerated than U.S.-born residents, countering common public perceptions about immigrant criminality.

Research from Northwestern University indicates that immigrants, both legal and undocumented, are about 60% less likely to be incarcerated than U.S.-born citizens. This trend has persisted for more than a century, with longitudinal data confirming lower criminal involvement among immigrants compared to native-born populations.
