More easily accessible broadband internet and other various infrastructure projects are on the list to get major federal funding for Wisconsin in the next few years.
"After years of partisan politics consuming Washington, I'm voting for the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act because it's my job to deliver results for Wisconsin and that's exactly what this bill does," Sen. Tammy Baldwin said in a Twitter post.
In the bipartisan infrastructure bill to be voted on in the Senate in August, Wisconsin stands to receive over $5.2 billion in federal funding for highway programs from the $550 billion spread out through the country for highways, rail, power and water infrastructure in the next few years, according to the La Crosse Tribune.
The LaCrosse Tribune said that Wisconsin could get another $225 million for bridge replacement and repair projects in the state and could apply for another $12.5 billion slotted for "economically significant bridges."
A big push from Wisconsin’s politicians include funding for easily accessible and high0speed broadband internet statewide, the La Crosse Tribune said.
Large portions of this funding would also go to both public transportation in Wisconsin and repairing the numerous bridges across the state that are structurally deficient, according to Wisconsin Public Radio.
