Several Wisconsin state representatives are filing paperwork that would allow them to run for governor in the upcoming elections.
Rep. Rebecca Kleefisch, who served under former Gov. Scott Walker and is a previous lieutenant governor herself, has filed paperwork to run for governor and has told her followers that she will be making a special announcement soon, WUWM News reported.
"Right now, Rebecca is focused on rolling out the forward agenda and the 1848 Project's vision for our state," Alec Zimmerman, spokesman for Kleefisch said, according to Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "But it's clear as she's traveled around the Wisconsin that Tony Evers is failing to provide real leadership."
Rep. John Macco has also filed paperwork to run for governor, saying that he got paperwork in order to have everything set, but will be monitoring everything for a few more weeks before making a final decision.
"We will continue to assess the situation in the next few weeks and make a final decision," Macco wrote in a Sept. 1 Twitter post.
Kleefisch and Macco both represent the Green Bay area.
Besides Macco and Kleefisch, Kevin Nicholson, Bill McCoshen and Jonathan Wichmann will also be potential opponents to current Democratic Gov. Tony Evers, according to Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
