Wisconsin is getting workforce grants from the American Rescue Plan Act to be used for a variety of issues facing local workers and businesses, according to the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation

There will be grants ranging from $250,000 to $10 million to fund and start regional economic development groups and initiatives, according to the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation.

"If we want to ensure our continued economic recovery from #COVID19, we need to keep investing in our workforce," Gov. Tony Evers said in a post on Twitter. "These Workforce Innovation grants will help communities develop long-term solutions to the workforce challenges our state faces in the wake of the pandemic.

The first round of grant applications is due Oct. 25 with winners being announced in mid-November and a second round of applications to be opened in 2022, according to the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation.

The administration of the grants will be done through an "interagency effort" between the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation and the Department of Workforce Development, according to the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation.

"We've heard from businesses around the state that there’s no one-size-fits all solution to building Wisconsin’s workforce," Missy Hughes, WEDC secretary and CEO said in a post by the Wisconsin Development Corporation. "The Workforce Innovation Grants will enable communities to develop groundbreaking, long-term solutions that are right for them so businesses can find workers, workers can connect to jobs and Wisconsin can thrive."
