U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson is a fan of Bradley Beal’s stand on vaccinations.

“Our federal health agencies owe Mr. Beal and the rest of America some answers,” Johnson tweeted after the Washington Wizards star questioned the point of vaccines if those who get it can still contract the virus and even pass it on to others.

During this week’s Media Day, Beal admitted he has not taken the vaccine, even though he contracted the virus over the summer and had to forgo his spot on the gold medal-winning Olympic team.

“I didn’t get sick at all,” he said. “I lost my smell, but that was it for me. Everybody is going to react differently. Some people have bad reactions to the vaccine. Nobody likes to talk about that.”

While the league isn’t forcing players to be vaccinated, those who aren’t face restrictions that include daily testing and not being able to take part in all team functions.

"[The NBA] kind of force us, in a way, to want to get [the vaccine]," Beal added. "At the end of the day [I'll] talk it over with my family."

As a whole, league officials insist 90% of all players have been vaccinated, though Beal isn’t the only big-name talent to still be straddling the fence on the issue.

Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving took questions from reporters by video conference amid reports he remains unvaccinated. In New York City, Mayor Bill De Blasio has also imposed a mandate requiring all employees and guests at the Barclay Center where Irving plays to have at least one vaccine dose in order to attend a sporting event.
