In a similar fashion to other Republican senators, Sen. Ron Johnson took to Twitter to voice his opposition on how Dr. Anthony Fauci and health leaders handled COVID-19.

Johnson tested positive for the coronavirus last year.

“The question all Americans should be asking: Did Dr. Fauci and our federal health agencies’ policy prescriptions work?” Johnson wrote on Twitter. “Seven-hundred thousand dead, the human toll, the economic devastation and trillions added to our debt.”

The Senate gave a $1.1 trillion infrastructure bill on Aug. 3, which got negative feedback from experts on the country’s growing debt, Newsweek reported.

In an op-ed from June, Johnson said, “As of May 21, the Centers for Disease Control’s Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) reports 4,265 deaths after vaccination, 3,494 within 30 days, and 1,592 on Day 0, 1 or 2. VAERS also shows 14,949 adverse effects resulting in hospitalization. This doesn’t prove causation, but it doesn’t rule it out.”

In the same op-ed, Johnson said that after being infected with the coronavirus in September of 2020, a test showed that he has high levels of antibodies. He references NIH articles natural immunity is at least as effective as, if not more so, than the vaccine. He expresses concern about the push to vaccinate everyone, regardless of natural immunity and other factors.

A search of VAERS data as of Sept. 24 using “[the coronavirus] vaccine” and “death” yields 7,215 results. However, there is a disclaimer on the website that because much of the data is submitted voluntarily by the public, it may be biased and unverifiable.

A CDC survey found that rates of depression, anxiety and suicide increased substantially amid lockdown orders and mask mandates. The CDC conceded that the increase in suicides was due to “elevated adverse mental health conditions associated with [the coronavirus].”

The national debt has increased by over $5 trillion since the start of the pandemic.
