On Nov. 8, the Milwaukee Bucks visited the White House following their NBA championship win.
The Bucks were the first NBA Champions to be invited to the White House since 2016, according to The Washington Post.
"This afternoon, I’m hosting the Milwaukee Bucks at the White House," Biden wrote in a Nov. 8 Twitter post. "I’m looking forward to celebrating their 2021 NBA Championship and their work off the court to move our nation forward."
WISN 12 News reported that President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff were present to welcome the Bucks to the White House and congratulate them on winning the 2021 Championship. The last time a team was invited to the White House was in 2016 when the Cleveland Chevaliers met with former President Barack Obama.
"To all the players, that's what you represent for so many people — pride and decency," Biden said. "You represented yourself and your families your organizations and a great American city by staying true to who you are."
The new NBA champions presented Biden with a Bucks Jersey with his name on it.
The team posted lots of pictures touring the grounds and sharing their excitement for the opportunity and what it means for the league and their team.
The Bucks will be honored for winning the championship title, their first in 50 years, by defeating the Phoenix Suns in a six-game series.
