Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers recently spent time traversing much of the state in promotion of his “Do the Right Thing” agenda.

In Racine, Evers was on hand on Sept. 2, to welcome students back to class on the first day of school and just hours later was spied touring several small businesses across the area.

“BacktoSchool season is one of my favorite times of the year, and I was excited to help celebrate the occasion by greeting students on their first day at Gilmore Fine Arts in Racine,” Evers later tweeted.

In his interactions with business owners, the conversation quickly turned to the issue of inflation, supply chain concerns and rising gas prices.

Fox News reports Evers told residents he was committed to dealing with inflation and lowering gas prices as those are easier for the state to change than supply chain issues. Evers also made it a point of complimenting how Racine has been focused on improving their main street to better reflect the future of Wisconsin, adding some of the small businesses now operating could be part of the 5,200 that have opened their doors since Evers increased funding for supporting small businesses in the state.

A statement from the governor's office later claimed the administration has said invested more than $1 billion to support small businesses, farmers, tourism, lodging and entertainment industries during Evers’ time in office.
