An upcoming election deadline is approaching quickly in Wisconsin. The absentee-ballot request deadline takes place in four weeks on Feb. 16.

Absentee-ballot request deadlines are designed for those who cannot be in their home jurisdiction on election day and wish to vote by mail. These deadlines are often closer to the election date compared to regular mail-in ballot requests, but still provide a cushion for mail and processing times.

The Wisconsin Elections Commission is a bipartisan regulatory agency that administers and enforces election laws in the state. It was established in 2016 alongside the Wisconsin Ethics Commission, replacing the Wisconsin Government Accountability Board (GAB).
