FOIA Request to Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction Regarding Instructional Mandates for State K-12 Schools on December 10, 2024.
The Sconi, a media organization dedicated to comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, has sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. The request seeks access to all instructional mandates for state K-12 schools under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq.
Specifically, we are requesting a list of all required courses and/or general instruction for state K-12 schools. As a media organization, our role involves gathering and reporting news to the public. Access to these public records is crucial in fulfilling our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
In line with our commitment to disseminate information freely, we have requested a fee waiver as a media professional. We believe that this will facilitate more efficient access to the requested information and allow us to continue serving the public with comprehensive coverage on matters affecting local education.
