FOIA Request to Manitowoc County Election Department Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.
In our continued commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at The Sconi have submitted a request for records under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq.
Our request is specifically for a list of all candidates running in the upcoming election. We have asked for detailed information including each candidate's first, middle, and last name; the office they are running for; the jurisdiction of that office; and their party affiliation.
In addition to this, we have also requested contact information for each candidate. This includes their address, phone number, and email address.
As an organization dedicated to transparency and accountability in public institutions, we believe that access to these public records is essential in fulfilling our professional responsibilities. Given our role in disseminating information to the public, we have requested a fee waiver as a media professional.
We await response from the Manitowoc County Election Department and will continue to keep our readers informed about developments related to this request.
