Two Powerball tickets worth $50,000 each were sold in Wisconsin for the August 16 drawing. The winning tickets were purchased at Kwik Trip on 715 W. Capitol Dr. in Hartland and Speedway on 369 E. Oklahoma Ave. in Milwaukee. Both tickets matched four of five numbers (23-40-49-65-69) plus the Powerball (23).
This brings the total to three $50,000 Powerball winners in Wisconsin over the past week.
According to Powerball.com, there were 22 tickets across the United States that won $50,000 or more for this drawing. There are nine prize levels in Powerball. In Wisconsin, a total of 12,795 tickets won prizes ranging from $4 to $50,000.
The Speedway location in Milwaukee has previously sold a significant Powerball ticket; it was the site where a $250,000 winning ticket was sold in 2017.
Since no one matched all five numbers and the Powerball for Saturday’s draw, the jackpot for Monday night is estimated at $605 million. This is the largest advertised Powerball jackpot in over a year.
So far in 2025, the Powerball jackpot has been hit four times: January 18 ($328.5 million – Oregon), March 29 ($526.5 million – California), April 26 ($167.3 million – Kentucky), and May 31 ($204.5 million – California).
Wisconsin Lottery retailers who sell winning tickets worth more than $599 receive a two-percent Retailer Performance Winning Ticket Incentive, up to a maximum of $100,000.
Players have up to 180 days from the draw date to claim their winnings. More information about claiming prizes can be found at https://www.wilottery.com/. Players can also check their tickets using the Lottery's mobile app available on both App Store and Google Play.
Powerball drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 9:59 p.m., with ticket sales closing at 9:00 p.m. Tickets cost $2 per play; players may add the Power Play feature for an extra dollar.
The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are approximately one in 292 million; odds of winning a $50,000 prize are about one in 913 thousand; while smaller prizes such as $4 carry odds between one in 92 or one in 39 depending on how they are played.
