Hundreds of uncounted ballots have been discovered in the Wisconsin recount process.
Recount workers in Milwaukee discovered 386 uncounted votes.
The recount process started this week and is expected to last through the Thanksgiving holiday.
Milwaukee’s elections board voted 3–0 to count the ballots.
Milwaukee Elections Commission Executive Director Claire Woodall-Vogg chalked it up to human error, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reported.
Voting irregularities were also reported in Dane and Milwaukee counties, including a woman who is a patient in a nursing home in Dane County disputing her vote, and a poll watcher claiming that they were not allowed to view tabulation after informing election officials that they were Republican.
As troubling details continued to emerge, many questioned whether Wisconsin election officials had broken the law when they told clerks to resolve absentee ballots received before Election Day that had missing address information.
A notice sent to clerks by the Wisconsin Elections Commission (WEC) stated the following:
“Please note that the clerk should attempt to resolve any missing witness address information prior to Election Day if possible, and this can be done through reliable information (personal knowledge, voter registration information, through a phone call with the voter or witness).”
Experts, however, say that the statement is unconstitutional as the ballots in question should have been discounted.
