Kyle Blackbourn was recently hired as the men's basketball team's director of recruiting and scouting by the University of Wisconsin–Madison, according to a press release from the university.

Blackbourn, a 10-year coaching veteran, will enter his sixth season with the Badgers in 2021-22 after serving as assistant director of basketball operations since 2016.

"Extremely honored to transition into this role! Want to thank Coach Gard for putting me in this position to continue to serve our student-athletes and staff," Blackbourn stated on Twitter. "The future is bright and can’t wait to continue to grow with our crew; as always, On Wisconsin!"

In his new role, Blackbourn will oversee recruit evaluation, scouting, on-campus visits and recruiting oversight, as well as helping Coach Gard and the coaching staff.

Blackbourn began his coaching career in 2006-07 at Scales Mound High School in Illinois and later served as the head boy's varsity assistant at Shullsburg High School in Wisconsin for three seasons.

He earned a bachelor's degree in physical education from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, along with a minor in health education, a certificate in adapted physical education and a coaching endorsement.

In the summer of 2014, he earned a master's degree in educational leadership from Benedictine College.
