John Lott, a former U.S. Department of Justice researcher and founder of the Crime Prevention Research Center, criticized the University of Wisconsin for refusing to cut $32 million in "Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion" (DEI) positions despite budget cuts.

"Wisconsin universities spend $32 million on diversity, equity & inclusion positions, so the legislature cut their budget by $32m and told them to cut the positions," Lott posted on X, formerly known as Twitter. "The schools refused to make the cuts and are asking for $15 million to fund 'compelling' non-DEI programs."

Lott's post on X was in response to an article in "The College Fix" about the legislature-mandated budget cuts to the University of Wisconsin.

"University of Wisconsin campus leaders have not cut diversity, equity and inclusion positions from their campuses despite losing $32 million in funding from the GOP-led state legislature earlier this summer in an effort to see such programs axed," said that article.

The university, however, is "in the process of requesting" an additional $15 million in funding from the legislature to fund "non-DEI" positions, according to the article.

Lott is best known for his work in the field of gun control and crime. He is the founder of the Crime Prevention Research Center and has authored several books on the subject, including "More Guns, Less Crime."

The Crime Prevention Research Center is a nonprofit organization focused on researching evidence-based crime prevention policies. It is widely recognized for providing data-driven insights and policy recommendations in the field of criminal justice.
