On May 19, a Nicaraguan man was arrested in Oakfield, facing multiple potential charges of sexual assault of a child, child trafficking, child endangerment, kidnapping, and other charges after attempting to force a young girl to perform sexual acts with him in his car. According to a press release from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office, "it is alleged that the suspect paid the victim’s mother, who he knew, in exchange for spending time alone with the victim." The suspect illegally crossed into Texas via Mexico in October 2021, and after being apprehended by CBP agents, he was released from their custody with instructions.

According to Restoration News, in Dane County on May 25, Alejandro Najera Cabrera was arrested and charged with bail jumping. He was placed on an immigration detainer.

The Laken Riley Act would require the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to detain non-citizens who have been arrested for crimes like burglary, theft, and shoplifting. The bill passed through the House for consideration by the US Senate. All six Republican members of Wisconsin's House delegation voted in favor of the bill while Reps. Mark Pocan (D) and Gwen Moore (D) voted against.

Since President Biden took office, over 7.2 million illegal immigrants have entered the United States. According to a report from Fox News, this figure is larger than the population of 36 US States.
