U.S. Senate Candidate in Wisconsin Eric Hovde’s spokesperson stated that the Biden administration’s border policies, supported by Hovde's opponent Sen. Baldwin, pose a threat to the community due to the rise in cartel activity, including fentanyl trafficking. Hovde's spokesperson provided these comments to The Sconi on June 10.

"Sen. Baldwin and President Biden's open-border policies have incentivized mass illegal immigration and empowered criminal cartels to flood our streets with fentanyl," said Zach Bannon, Spokesman for Eric Hovde, U.S. Senate Candidate in Wisconsin. "If that wasn't bad enough, the Baldwin-Biden border crisis is now hitting America's classrooms, costing Wisconsin communities hundreds of thousands of dollars and threatening the education of our next generation."

According to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, deaths caused by fentanyl overdose increased in the state of Wisconsin by 97% between 2019 and 2021.

The National Drug Threat Assessment, issued by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), identifies fentanyl as the deadliest drug in American history, claiming the lives of 38,000 Americans in the "first six months of 2023 alone." The Sinaloa and Jalisco cartels have facilitated the presence of fentanyl in nearly all 50 U.S. states, producing it in Mexico and smuggling it into the United States for profit.

According to Hovde’s campaign website, the border crisis is a "great risk" for the U.S. "Our laws need to be enforced and our borders strengthened if we want to keep our streets safe and protect the lives of U.S. citizens and migrants," says Hovde’s campaign.

Eric Hovde is running as a U.S. Senate candidate in Wisconsin, according to his website.
