U.S. Senate candidate in Wisconsin, Eric Hovde, stated that the current open border policy allows "some of the most evil people in the world" to thrive. The Hovde campaign made this statement to the Sconi on July 15.

"While Wisconsin families struggle to make ends meet, some of the most evil people in the world are thriving thanks to the Biden-Baldwin open borders policies," said Hovde. "Is this what Sen. Baldwin means when she says the Biden administration is one of the most successful in generations?"

According to a House Homeland Security press release, human smuggling and trafficking operations run by cartels generated $13 billion in 2021 alone. These cartel operations cause violence and death from fentanyl, dangerous conditions in smuggling, and exploitation, especially of migrant children.

In an interview on the Shawn Ryan Show, Sheriff Mark Lamb, a Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate in Arizona, said that 100,000 children who entered the United States without their parents or guardians are in the hands of cartels who are using them for "hard labor and sex trade." In 2023, there were 32 million reports of child exploitation in the United States compared to 4 million in 2014.

According to the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS), cartels' drug trafficking and human smuggling operations gain nearly $1 billion per month. This money is being used to expand operations across the southwest border into the United States.
